Exciting Announcement!

We have an iPad in our class now! Many thanks to the Iron County Foundation, Mrs. Griffiths, Mrs. Esplin, ICSD technology department, and Mr. Moyle! We love it! I couldn't put it in the picture because I had to use it to TAKE the picture.

Gingerbread Man

We read five different versions of the Gingerbread Man over the week. The Gingerbread Girl won as the class favorite!

We decorated Gingerbread Men and then took one bite. We made a pie graph showing the part most of us bit into first. The leg won by an overwhelming amount!

We read two different versions of the Gingerbread man and compared them.

Gingerbread Man week was so much fun! We made a gingerbread man glyph showing the month we were born, our favorite things to do, our favorite animal, etc.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. I hope you like the turkeys as much as I did! They were lots of fun.

Fabulous Fall

We had a fun week learning about seasons and Fall! We did a creative art project with an iron and crayon shavings. We also made a book about our senses in Fall. We wrote Fall poems that are in the hallway outside our door!

Halloween

We had a great party today. Many thanks to all the parents/grandparents that helped make it special!

Family Favorite Apples

Thanks to all of you First Grade parents, I had 100% attendance at my fall SEP's. It was great to meet with all of you last week. I have the most amazing, cute class EVER! Here's a peek at our Family Favorite Apple Graph results:

Apple Investigations

We traced and cut out apple "parts" for our apple stories!

We weighed and measured our apples with linking cubes and balance scales.

We graphed our apple colors and counted how many had a stem.

Cute Book!!

We've adopted a tree! Each season this year we will take a photo under this tree. We are watching it change with the seasons. We are also making a tree for each season in art.

Well, today was a great first day of first grade! The kids were so cute and wonderful! We learned a few rules and procedures, went on a tour of the school, and had lunch for the first time in the lunchroom! We also talked about everything we did to get ready for first grade!
